Watchmaker Genomics applies advanced enzymology to enable breakthrough applications for the reading, writing, and editing of nucleic acids. The company combines domain expertise in protein engineering with large-scale enzyme manufacturing to address the demanding quality, performance, and scale requirements of high-growth clinical genomics applications.

The company was founded in 2019 by Trey Foskett, Brian Kudlow, and Stephen Picone in Boulder, CO. They are an experienced team with deep sequencing, enzyme engineering, and assay expertise, in addition to over a decade of working together, including multiple successful exits totaling more than $2B.

Watchmaker’s unique combination of deep domain expertise in computational biology, protein engineering, and large-scale enzyme manufacturing enables powerful iterative design for the precision tools needed to close the gap between sample input and information output.

Watchmaker Genomics believes that the most exciting innovations lie at the intersection of biology, engineering, and computer science. The team is on a mission to make information output a perfect representation of the biological information contained within the sample input. Watchmaker is actively developing the technologies to make this future possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling breakthrough scientific research and improving human health.
