Meet Ryan

Ryan is a Venture Partner at Eclipse and looks to build generational businesses alongside the talented founders who join Eclipse Venture Equity to build their companies from day zero.

He takes a high-touch, first principles approach to company building, and works diligently with Venture Founders from pre-idea to initial capital injection. He’s intensely motivated by the impact startups have on real long-term economic growth, and thinks industrial sectors have outsized opportunity and importance.

Ryan believes that when building a company, the root of all value creation is customer obsession and a drive to deliver products that are of fundamental importance (rather than being nice-to-have). Imagining and creating valuable products is where the craft of world-class engineers, scientists and designers shines, and looking for teams oozing with talent in their craft is essential.

Prior to Eclipse, Ryan co-founded and built Kojo (fka Agora), a construction supply chain SaaS product for trade contracts, which has served over $1B in construction material volume and raised nearly $100M to-date. As CTO, he delivered a market defining product to hundreds of contractors across the U.S., along with building and leading a world class EPD team.

Earlier in his career, Ryan spent time building hardware in world-class organizations, spanning Microsoft HoloLens v1 and v2, high density storage arrays, wireless systems, displays, and high frequency circuits. He also spent time as an investor at 8VC, where he fell in love with the world of startups.

Ryan was raised outside of Toronto, Canada, and has a BASc in Electrical Engineering from the University of Waterloo. In addition to being an amateur potter, martial artist, and enjoying a good strategy game, he’s in his element when exploring nature, traveling, or learning something new.
